William Stevens Sr.
Duplin County, NC

William Stevens had a wife previous to his widow Mildred according to his estate record: "gifts were delivered by said William Stevens to his children before he was married to the present Widow Stevens and the other gifts were made since he was married to her."

William Stevens had children William, Louhamma, Barnabas, Alice, Sukey, Ealee and Charles Stevens as found in his 1781 estate records. Mildred was appointed guardian of Alice, Sukey, Ealee and Charles. Alice's 1802 will only list her sister Sukey Herring and brother Charles and since none of the other siblings are listed, it would indicate they were children by William's first wife.
