Wayne County Register of Deeds, Goldsboro, NC - 100 acres
This deed made this 9th day of January 1880 by Willis P. Hall and wife Susan
G. Hall of Wayne County and state of North Carolina to Newman Potts of Wayne
County and State of NC.
Witnesseth: that said Willis P. Hall and wife Susan G. in consideration of
three hundred dollars to them paid by said Newman Potts, the receipt of
which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents
do bargain sell and convey unto said Newman Potts and his heirs a tract of
land in Wayne County State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of George
H. Grantham and others bounded as follows:
Beginning at a stake in the Marsh George H. Grantham's corner and runs N 43
W 13 poles to a stake: then S 47 W 62 poles to a pine: then N 48 W 128 poles:
then to a stake: then N 2 W 21 poles to a stake: then N 88 E 135 poles to a
stake: then N 8 E 42 poles to a stake: then N 88 E 28 poles to a gum: then
S 8 1/2 W 127 poles to the beginning containing one hundred acres more or
less and being the same land bought by said W. P. Hall from J. P. Cobb and
wife by deed dated July 24, 1876 and recorded in Liber P P page 232.
To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land and all privileges and
appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Newman Potts his heirs and
assigns to their only use & behoof.
And the said W. P. Hall and wife Susan G. covenant that they are seized of
said premisis in fee and have right to convey the same in fee simple: that
the same are free from all incumbrances and that they will warrant and defend
the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever.

hereunto set their hand and seals the day and year above written.
