Craven County Record of Deeds, 1729-1746
To whom these presents shall come Greeting. Know yee that I Francis
Stringer Seurgeon of the province of North Carolina & County of Craven
for & in consideration of forty pounds cur't money to me in hand paid
by James Lord, Planter the Reciept whereof I do hereby acknowledge my
self therewith fully satisfied contented and paid of every part &
parcell thereof I do exonerate acquit & discharge the sd James Lord
his heirs & of every part thereof from me my heirs &c have given,
granted, alien'd, convey'd, & confirm'd unto the sd James Lord, one
tenament or mersuage of Land lieing on the north side of Nuce joyning
to Henrey Owens line begining at a black oak & runs from that south
170 pole & so along the eastermost side of the Branch that lies between
this sd tenament of land & another tenament of land belonging to Robert
Potts which said tenaments of land are both in one patent of two hundred
& fifty acres baring date the eighteenth day of Nov'r 1738, for the
Compliment of one hundred & twenty five acres of land more or less to
have & to hold to him the said James Lord his heirs &c from one me my
heirs &c for ever, he the said James Lord his heirs or assigns yearly
complying with his Majestices Quit Rents as by the patent does appear
with all privilidges immunities to the sd land belonging or in any wise
apertaining & furthermore I the sd Francis Stringer do covenant &
engage with the sd James Lord, his heirs &c for me my heirs that I am
the true sole & lawful ownes of first sd tenament of land in fee simple
& do me my heirs & from the claim or claims of any person or persons
whatsoever to him the sd James Lord his heirs & assignes for ever warrant
secure & defend in testimoney whereof I have here unto set my hand &
affixed my seal this 16 day of April 1740.
