Duplin County, NC - Marriages - Daniel Potts to Elizabeth Stevens, 1794
State of North Carolina
Know all men by these presents that with Daniel Potts and Loammi
Stevens both of Duplin County are held and firmly Bound into his
Excellency Richard Dobbs Spaight Esq. Governor & of the said State
in the Just and full Sum of five hundred pounds Current Money
to be paid to the said Governor or his Successors in office to
which payment will & truly be made we bind ourselves, our Heirs,
Executors and Adminis'rs Jointly and Severally firmly by these
presents Sealed with our Seals and Dated this Third day of April
Anno Dom. 1794
The Condition of the above obligation is Such that whereas the
said Daniel Potts above bound hath the day of the Date hereof
applied for and obtained a License for a Mariage intended to be
Celebrated between him and Elizabeth Stevens of the said County of
Duplin, Singlewoman, Now if therefore it shall not happen at any
time here after that there is a Just Cause or lawful Impediment
to obstruct the said Mariage, then the above obligation shall be
Void, otherwise to stand in full force & Virtue
