Know all men by these presents that I Walter Dunn Senr. have given, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do give, convey and confirm unto my Son Newman Dunn the following Negroes Viz: Conor, Chain, Peter, Philis, Jack, Guilford and Citty the childen of Chain; also Chaney, Hart, Ben, Unice and Fortune the children of the last named Chain esteemed at thirty nine hundred and fifty dollars to have and to hold the above named Negores with and singular their increase, rights, titles &c thereunto belonging. I the said Walter Dunn do for myself my heirs executors, administrators, or assigns covenant and agree to and with the said Newman Dunn that I will warrant and for ever defend the title of the said Negores free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever such only as are above named unto him the said Newman Dunn and his heirs so far as my title to the same of good no further. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and make my seal this 18th day of October 1821. Witnesses: Walter Dunn Junr. and Wm. Dunn. Pitt County May Term 1822, proved and ordered to be registered.
