Carley Dunn Widdows Dower

In obedience to a writ issued from the county court November Term 1823 to the Sheriff directed commanding him to summons a jury of good and lawfull men unconnected with the parties to lay off and allot to Carley Dunn widdow of Newman Dunn dec'd her dower in the lands os sd dec'd in Pitt County to which by las she is entitled we the undersigned jurys being summoned convened on the premisis and after being duly qualified in the law have proceeded to do the same in the following manner Vizt:

Two hundred fifty two acres of land adjacent to Whites Branch, including the mannor, plantation, mansion house and the necessary out houses wherever. Given under our hands and seals this 14th day of January 1824. Will Pugh, Pugh Cannon, Charity C. W. Cannon, W. S. Murhprey, Jesse Gardner, Arthur F. Wooten, Fred'k Johnson, Hardee Smith, Stephen Smith, John Gardner, John P. Quimmerly and William Gardner.

[This appears to be the same land Walter purchased from Nathaniel Cannon and Dennis Cannon Jr. in 1798]
