Julia was the daughter of Newman Potts Sr. and wife Susan Marinda Lewis of Brogden Township.

1884 - Newman Potts will: Item 3rd I give and bequeath to my daughter Julia Elisabeth Potts three hundred dollars for educational purposes out of the sale of my perishable property & funds I have on hand.

Item 4th After giving my daughter Julia Elisabeth Potts three hundred dollars out of my perishable property & funds on hand the residue I give and bequeath to my youngest son Robert Henry Potts & my youngest daughter Minnie Charity Potts to be equally divided between them for educational purposes.


1884 - Newman Potts will: Lot No. 7 is assigned to Julia E Potts in severalty, bounded as follows, to wit - beginning at a stake, corner of lot no. 6 & runs then S 3.45 W 23.75 chs to a stake on the Marsh Branch - then N 72.15 W 20.15 chs to a pine stump - then N 87.15 W 4.67 chs to a stake - then S 60.45 W 35.68 chs to a stake - then N 9.20 W 8.83 chs to a stake, corner of lot no. 6 - then with the line of said lot N 65.45 E 64.00 chs to the first station, containing fifty eight acres, valued at three hundred & eighty dollars.

I will faithfully and honestly perform with the best of my skill and ability; So help me God

We, Giles Kornegay, John W Cox and John Davis, having been duly appointed Commissioners to divide the lands of Julia E Potts decd, met upon said premises April the 10th 1890 and viewed and divided in severalty, the said lands. The allotment and metes and bounds of the same are as follows:

Lot No 1 drawn by Urban Potts, bounded as follows to wit: Begins at a stake Cynthia Fields cor. and runs thence S 4 W 91 poles to a stake in the marsh Branch Kings corner, then N 72 W 8 2/5 poles to a stake, then N 4 E 83 1/2 poles to a stake in C A Fields line, then N 66 E 11 poles to the 1st station, containing 5 acres, valued at twenty five dollars.

Lot No 2 drawn by John F Fields, bounded as follows to wit: Begins at a stake in C A Fields line cor of Lot No 1 and runs thence S 4 W 83 1/2 poles to a stake, then N 72 W 82/5 poles to a stake then N 4 E 77 poles to a small hickory and stake, then N 66 East 9 1/2 po to the 1st station, containing 4 acres valued at twenty five dollars.

Lot No 10 drawn by Newman Potts & bounded as follows to wit: Begins at a stake cor of lot No 9 and runs then W 8 East 27 poles to a stake, then S 61 W 42 poles to a stake, then N 9 W 312/5 poles to a stake, then N 66 E 383/5 poles to the first station, containing (7) seven acres valued at twenty five dollars.

The commissioners who were appointed by the court to divide the lands specified in the petition among the parties therein named, having filed their report and the division made by them appearing to be just and equal and noticed having issued to said parties to show cause if any they had why said report should not be confirmed and the parties having accepted service of said notice and no exceptions to said report having been filed It is ordered and adjudged that said report be in all respects confirmed and that it be duly recorded and judgement is rendered accordingly.

If is further ordered and adjudged that the cost of said proceedings including a fee of ten dollars to the attorney of record be paid by the parties in proportion to their respective interest in the lands divided
