Wayne County Register of Deeds, Goldsboro, NC - 139 acres
This deed made this 6th day of February 1878 by John H Powell and wife Rowena of Wayne County and state of North Carolina to Newman Potts of Wayne County and state of North Carolina, witnesseth that said John H Powell and wife Rowena in consideration of two hundred and fifty dollars to them paid by Newman Potts the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do convey to said Newman Potts and his heirs a tract of land in Wayne County state of North Carolina adjoining the lands of J R Roberts, Hannah Harris and others bounded as follows: beginning at a black jack Jno R Roberts corner, to Spring Bank, to Roberts other corner, to the New Bern road, to black gum on the west side of a prong of Sleepy Creek, containing one hundred & thirty nine acres, more or less.
