Eliza Lewis Martin
Daughter of Urban & Susan Casey Lewis

"Fifthly at the death of my wife Susan I give and bequeath unto my seven daughters viz Eliza Martin, Polly Martin, Fanny Denmark, Bethena Lewis, Patience Lewis, Susan Lewis & Elizabeth Lewis, all the remainder of my estate herein before loaned to my wife Susan, to be equally divided between them". Will of Urban Lewis, 1847; Wayne County, NC

The Wayne County Heritage Book shows Eliza was born February 25, 1813 and married Waitman Martin. In the 1840 Wayne County Census in the Waitman household was a female age 30-39 making her born between 1801-1810. It is proposed this female was Eliza Lewis. On 28 Dec 1847 Waitman executed a deed and his wife was Edy Maria so Eliza would have died before date of deed.
