Henderson Martin Estate

In the name of God Amen. I Henderson Martin of the county of Wayne and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and for following - that is to say

First that my body shall be decently buried suitable to the wishes of my family and the expenses paid out of my estate and that all my just debts be paid.

I give and devise unto my youngest son Urbin my house and land upon which I now live as far as the ditch between me and John Hughes running straight with the Branch to the new road leading from Mount Olive to Whitmon Prices.

I also give and bequeath to my son Urbin one good horse, one good cow and calf, one cart and all the farming tools and if there is no good horse therein shall be money enough given him to make up the dificiences.

I also give and bequeath unto my four daughters Alice, Susan, Charity and Margarett the piece of land lately purchased from Willis Martin containing about 50 acres.

I also will that my beloved wife and daughters shall remain on the place where I now live untill they marry or otherwise see fit to leave and that Urbin assist in supporting them.

I also will that the remainder of my property shall ge sold and equally divided between all my lasful heirs except Urbon to whom I have allotted his share and the note which I hold against Daniel Harrell shall be given his wife and children as part of his share of my estate.

In witness whereof I the said Henderson do hereunto set my hand and seal this the 15th day of March AD 1877.

Signed, sealed and declared by the said Henderson Martin to be his last will in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence do subscribe our names as witnesses thereto.
