28 May 1878 - Petition for Dower - State of North Carolina, Wayne County, to the Superior Court of said county. We, L. G. Pearsall, D. W. Kelley, Joel Hines, J. D. Aaron and W. D. Casey, Jurors summoned by the Sheriff to lay off and set apart by metes and bounds to Bethany Martin widow of Henderson Martin dec'd, her dower and thirds in the lands to which she is entitled by law and is described in her petition for dower. Whereupon after being duly sworn to do equal justice according to law proceeded on the 28th day of May, 1878 to see said lands and have set apart to Bethany Martin her dower as follows, to-wit: one tract in and on the north side of Thunder Swamp adjacent to Hughes line, run of swamp containing 15 acres more or less; one other tract adjacent to a stake on the run of a small branch to the road, Hughes line containing 55 acres more or less.
