Owen Daugherty, born about 1689, died c1720. He was one of the earliest Daugherty settlers in Virginia. We have no information beyond the fact that his inventory was returned in Norfolk County, Va, some time between 1720 and 1730. In "First Census of American People" by Michael J. Deed Abstracts of Old Rappahannock Co, VA 1656-1664 10 Jul 1662 - Alexander Fleming deed to Francis Doughty, both of Rappahonnock County, for three thousand pounds of tobacco and cask, for 200 acres, adj Silvester Thacher and north side of Rappannock River in the freshes thereof. Witnesses Clemt: Herbert, Robert Howson and Richard Carter. Deed Abstracts of Old Rappahannock Co, VA 1656-1664 27 Feb 1675 - Enoch Daughty or Doughty made a will. It was recorded in Old Rappannock Co., Va., 14 Jan 1677 in Will Book 2, pgs 51-52. That is now in Essex County, Va. It was also recorded in Lancaster Co., Va, in a.2.5, pg 28. It mentions but does not name his children. Francis Doughty and James Phillips were empowered to sell all lands and chattels for "my children" and "their heirs." The will mentions a brother, not named, who resided in Stafford Co., Va. Evidently this man resided in Lancaster, but had land in both Lancaster and Rapahannock counties. They would merge their livestock and after five years split up any increase in same. Francis granted his 200 acres upon the Rappahannock River to Richard Boughten of Charles City, Maryland to no other use but for the use and behoof of Anne Doughty during her natural life. Upon her death, Richard was to dispose of property and profits distributed according to Francis' last will and testment.
