Cavaliers and Pioneers, Abstracts of Virginia Land Patents and Grants, Vol 2 & 3, by Nell Marion Nugent (based on the 1673 date this is likely Owen (1) born in Donegal).

Owen Daugherty, born about 1689, died c1720. He was one of the earliest Daugherty settlers in Virginia. We have no information beyond the fact that his inventory was returned in Norfolk County, Va, some time between 1720 and 1730. In "First Census of American People" by Michael J. O'Brien, it is stated that he was in New (?) Norfolk Co., Va. in 1689. Daughhetee, Daugherty, Doherty, Dogherty, O'Dogherty families of the Southern States by C. B. Heinemann published 1935. (based on the 1689 date this is likely Owen (2).

1655 - Francis Doughty: Minister in Northampton County about 1655, and after, at least to 1660. Minister of Sittenburne Parish, (Old) Rappahannock County in 1668. Probably left Virginia soon after. 10 Jul 1662 - Alexander Fleming deed to Francis Doughty, both of Rappahonnock County, for three thousand pounds of tobacco and cask, for 200 acres, adj Silvester Thacher and north side of Rappannock River in the freshes thereof. 27 Feb 1675 - Enoch Daughty or Doughty made a will. It was recorded in Old Rappannock Co., Va., 14 Jan 1677 in Will Book 2, pgs 51-52. That is now in Essex County, Va. It was also recorded in Lancaster Co., Va, in a.2.5, pg 28. It mentions but does not name his children. Francis Doughty and James Phillips were empowered to sell all lands and chattels for "my children" and "their heirs." The will mentions a brother, not named, who resided in Stafford Co., Va. Evidently this man resided in Lancaster, but had land in both Lancaster and Rapahannock counties. Descendants of AhDaughhetee, Daughhetee, Daughity, Doherty, O'Dogherty, etc., families of Northumberland county, Virginia" [by] C. B. Heinemann published 1940.

28 Jan 1666 - Five year agreement between Francis Doughty Senr. and Enoch Doughty his son that Enoch shall occupy and manage the whole plantation of said Francis, reserving his house where he lives. They would merge their livestock and after five years split up any increase in same. 13 Mar 1668/69 - Francis Doughty for and in consideration of the good will and love I bear unto my wife Anne Doughty; that Francis is shortly intended God willing to transport himself out of the Colony of Virginia into some other country and climate more beneficial to his health. Wife unwilling to leave children and kindred most of them residing in Virginia and in neighboring Maryland. Francis granted his 200 acres upon the Rappahannock River to Richard Boughten of Charles City, Maryland to no other use but for the use and behoof of Anne Doughty during her natural life. 18 Apr 1668 - Petition to the Governor from John Catlett and Humphrey Booth that Francis Doughty refused in communicting in the blessed ordinance of the Last Supper without any reason besides his conscience would not suffer him so to abdicate and suspend us from participating in that hold Sacrament.
