Brand figure of eight. 15 Jul 1766 The following deed was admitted to record and proved: Ephram Stephens to Jacob Stevens proved by John Stevens. 20 Jan 1767 Ordered that the Marsh Road whereon Edmd. Stevens is overseer be altered and directed to be laid off from Cross Mill Creek at Lewis Johnakins landing by the following persons vizt: Jacob Stevens, Ephram Stevens and others. That Jacob Stevens summons them to meet and put the same into execution and that that part of the former road be void. 20 Oct 1767 Ordered that Jacob Stevens be recommend to next Session of Assembly as an aged infirm person having rheumatick pains and no visable estate be exempted from public duties and paying taxes. Johnston County, NC Deed Book Abstacts, 1764-1791, Vol. II 26 May 1786 - Needham Whitley, Johnston County for the natural love and affection I have and bear unto Whitley Stevens of County aforesaid, son of Belinda Stevens, widow of Jacob Stevens dec'd, £100 specie to be paid by or on the 26th day of May 1790 with lawful interest from the date hereof. In case said Whitley Stevens do die before he arrives to the age of 18 years, the said £100 and interest I invest it in his mother Belinda Stevens. Wit: Is. Whitley, Charles Littleton, May Court 1786 ackd, Wm. Ward, CC. From page 43 Book P, No. 1. Ordered that a receipt from Belinda Stevens to Needham Whitley be registered. Acknowledged by the said Belinda Stevens. (Whitley Stevens is not mentioned in Jacob's will and Belinda could have been pregnant with him at her husband's death.
