Henry Jernigan Will of 1781, Johnston County, NC

Beloved wife Ann Jernigan the plantation whereon I now live for and during her natural life.

Wife Ann Jernigan one Negro man called Joe, one called Peter, one woman called Doll and one called Sarah, one mare called Boney and one called Sorrel, one side saddle and bridle, ten cows and calves six ewes and lambs, fifteen year old hogs and six sows and piggins. Household goods.

Son Lewis Jernigan one Negro man named Charles, one Negro named Jacob and one set of blacksmith tools.

Son Cary Jernigan the lands and slaves now in his possession and one Negro man called Farrow and one Negro girl called Hanah. One Negro man called Frank at my wife's decease.

Son Jacob Jernigan my lands at Black River and seventy pounds of hard silver money, one Negro man called Jo_ey and one called Sam, one Negro woman called Charrity, six cows and calves, four ewes and lambs, one ram, household goods, mare called Blaze. Negro girl called Poll.

Son Jasper Jernigan whole of real and personal estate after the death of my wife. Negro man called Ben and one called Abram, one Negro woman called Patience and boy called Davey.

Son Lewis Jernigan one sorrel horse named Yorrick.

Rest of estate to be divided equally amongst my other four children: Elizabeth Shaw, Billenda Germalian, Jamima Bizzell and Jacob Jernigan. Also the value of the horse I gave Lewis Jernigan.
