Rachael Jarman Will of 1815

Being advanced in years and considerable infirmity..

To grandson Jarman Winsett and other grandchildren the heirs of my son Robert Jarman dec'd, namely Shadrack Jarman, Ailsey Koonce, Rachel Buster, Robert Jarman, Philpeanea Jarman, and John Jarman one Negro woman slave known by the name of Grace and all her children, namely Virge, Shepperd, Easter, Cato, Casey and Lot along with one hundred dollars to defray the expense of taking said Negroes to Tennessee or wheresoever their residence may be.

Negro man Dave be hired out to the best advantage for the support of Grace and her children until said Legatees come or send for them.

To grandson McLendal Jarman (son of Hall Jarman) one hundred twenty five acres of land adjoining the land I now live on and five pounds money.

Give my Negro man Dave after my grandchildren supposed to be in Tennessee do come or send for their legacy, to be sold and the money equally divided among all the living children of my sons, Robert Jarman dec'd, John Jarman dec'd and my daughter Mary Winsett dec'd except Reuben Jarman, a son of John Jarman dec'd.

To grandson Reuben Jarman five pounds.

Give Negro man Moody and Negro woman Moll and balance of my estate and property not herein otherways disposed of to be sold and after paying my funeral expenses, monies arising I give to part of the children of my son John Jarman dec'd that are now living, and of my daughter Mary Winsett dec'd namely Manuel Jarman, Amos Jarman, John Jarman, Hall Jarman, Lakey Standley, Rachel Middleton, Nancy Jarman, Mary Irwin, Susanah Boyt and Frances Jones, equally divided among them.

Give my wearing clothes to my granddaughters that are now living and have remained in this state to be divided among them share and share alike.

Will of Rachel Jarman dec'd duly proved in open court by the oath of Aaron Ratliff and Joseph T. Rhodes. Ordered that Letters Testamentary issue accordingly.

(Date of will is after February Term date in original document - perhaps the court date should have been 1816)
