May Term 1747 - The last will and testament of John Carsie (Casey?) was exhibited and proved in open court by the oath of William White. One of the evidences thereto. Upon the prayer of Sarah Carsie, widow of the said John Carsie, it is ordered that administration of the estate of said John Carsie be granted to her and that the Secretary have notice to issue for Letters of Administration with the will annexed. North Carolina, Carteret County, 1767 - This Day personally appeared before me George Gibbons one of His Majesties Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid William Keais and gave his affirmation and Declared that being at the house of Elizabeth McNaire where Thomas Casey lay sick and seemed in a dolefull situation, and the sd William Keais mentioned to him if he had made any will and if not he thought it was proper he should - his answer was that there was no occasion for that and should he do otherwise then with whatever was left after his debts was paid should be his Brother's William Caseys who was then present and further the Deponent Sayeth Not. June Term 1767 - William Casey moved for Letters of Administration the estate of Thomas Casey dec'd and granted, he giving bonds with David Lewis and William Thomson in the sum of one thousand pounds proc money and at the same time qualified as Administrator to the said estate of the said deceased. December Term 1767 - William Thomson Esq produced into court a Power of Attorney from William Casey nominating and appointing him his lawfull attorney and proved by the oath of Robert Read one of the subscribing evidences thereto and ordered to be registered. William Thomson Esq. returned into this court the inventory of Thomas Casey dec'd and account of sales of the the goods and chattles of Thomas Casey dec'd and proved by the oath of Solomon Shepard sheriff in the amount of 334 pounds 16 shillings and one penny. June Term 1774 - Agreeable to a resolve of the General Assembly passed in the year 1771 to allow the wounded soldiers a salary, that is to say, Charles Yeates 20 pounds and Thomas Casey 15 pounds per annum as long as the court saw requisite. Ordered that the Clerk certify to the Treasurer that the court of Carteret County allows them the sum according to the resolve for the years 1773 and 1774 as they always continue unable to work. Indenture made 3 Oct 1774 between John Casa of Core Banks and Thomas Casa both of Carteret County, for 16 pounds 15 shillings and three pence land in Carteret County in Core Banks between Three hats and Portsmouth being 1/2 of a lott convey'd away by John Nelson to John Casa distinguished by No. 7 and the half contains 50 acres. Indenture made 10 Sep 1791 between Thomas Casey of South River Craven County and William Tolson of Carteret County, for 20 pounds land in Carteret County on Core Banks and taken out of Nelson's deed No. 7 adjacent to Adam Gaskins corner on the sea side, Thomas Nelson's patent line containing 50 acres distinguished by being the southwest half of John Casey's hundred acres. Indenture made 21 Oct 1797 between Southy Jordan and Richard Casa both of Craven County, for 20 pounds land in Carteret County on Core Banks near Portsmouth joining Jesse Tison land containing 50 acres. In the Name of God Amen I John Casey Senr of Portsmouth in the county of Carteret and State of North Carolina, being weak in body but of sound mind and memory (Blessed be to God) do this day being the second day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say)

First I leave fifty acres of land in Craven County on South River at the head of Rials Creek to be sold by my wife Elizabeth Casey and the money arising therefrom to go to her, to help support her on.

Also I give and bequeath to my son Natintine Casey a black horse with a white star in his forehead.

And all the rest of my estate both real and personal which I may die possessed of, I leave to my well beloved wife Elizabeth Casey to hold to her during her natural life, to live and support herself upon, she making no waste or destruction thereof.

And from after her decease, I give and bequeath whatever there may be of the same both real and personal to be equally divided among my children (or their representatives) viz, John Casey Junr, Amelia Quidley, Levi Casey, Philip Casey, Natintine Casey and Sally Casey (wife of Jesse Casey) her part to go to herself and children alone, and to no other purpose or use whatever, and to be at the alone disposal of the said Sally Casey.

And I make and ordain my said wife sole Executrix of this my last will and testament for the intents and purposes therein contained.

In witness whereof, I the said John Casey Senr have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
